Is RFE and 485 process parallel ?

Just wondering..if I receive RFE does it totally pause
485 process or they keep working simultaneously..
(i.e is RFE going to block my regular 485 process)

RFE -(Request for Explanation/??whatever), refers to additional information required to continue processing your application. Failure to do so within 90 days can result in 485 denial.
