Once a person gets GC i.e. plastic card. Does it have an expiry date? or does it require any re-validation?

Also, I have heard that one can apply for citizenship after 5 years.. what if I don't want to apply for citizenship but want to stay on GC for 10-15 years? what are the pros-and-cons?

Thanks in advance

A GC is valid for a period of 10 years. You just apply for a renewal before the expiry of the GC. If you know for sure that you are going to reside here in the US and can maintain the Permanent Residency conditions, then there is no problem about retaining your GC. If you get your Citizenship, then you are not bound by the Residency Conditions.
