Is Original Passport Required for EAD ?

Hi Guys,

My wife\'s passport has been sent to INS in Washington for restamping of extended H1. Now I am applying for I-485 - Is the original Passport required for getting EAD ? I have taken a color xerox before sending the passport by mail. Will the copies do ?

You need only copy. But you have to take the copies of latest visa stamps which you will not have until you get back your passport.
