Hi,

My parents will be applying for their visitor visa shortly. Do they need to have my original birth certificate with them for the visa interview or a copy will be fine? I ask this since I have the original with me here in states.

Thank you all for your help. This forum is a great place.

A copy is fine, but try to get it notarized (just to be on the safe side) and preferably a color copy. Also, factor in the risk that if the consulate takes anything, it is extremely difficult to get it back and from that standpoint, submitting original would be detrimental.

Notarization should not be just signature related, but it should cleary say that the copy has been notarized (ex: an official from a DMV can do)
