Photocopy should be enough

When you file your 485 application you generally send photocopies of all valid documents. Similary I would think even for RFE a photocopy is sufficient unless INS specifically asks for original in which case you need to send the original.

I sent the foto copies ..but notarized.

The notary I went to..was not ready to notarize saying that only a signature is notarized. SO i signed on a part of the foto copy and he notarized it.

..just posting my experience....My rd is 09/03/02. So cannot say for sure that this will work..have to wait and see
