My brother's B2 expires on Oct. 11. I just found out yesterday that he is actually eligible to apply for an extension. My question is that if he applies for the extension through the TSC, how long does it usually take? Also, if the TSC denies his application, then is he considered to have stayed in the country illegally from Oct. 11 onwards? Or is it that if he leaves immediately after receiving the denial notice then he wont be considered to have stayed here illegally? I dont want to jeopardise his chances of coming back in the USA legally. Also, what are good reasons to show to INS for extension of stay? Only reason we can come up with is spending more time with family and friends in the USA. Thanks so much!
