is name check the same as security check ?

Guys,
My 485 is pending since 20th feb 2004 and did fp in dec 2004. I am EB2 and not from retrogressed country. On inquiring USCIS, I was told that its been delayed due to :security/background" checks. IS it the same as that notoroius "name check" thingie? whats the sequence of all these checks? is it hte last thing before they approve my i485?

security/background/name checks are performed based on "Name" and "FP".
Nobody knows the sequence and where it is being done (FBI, CIA, IBIS, etc).
I approached congressman, he came to me that mine is with CIA. others are stuck with FBI. So no clue, but a big "Excuse' for USCIS to delay the cases.

But, i also believe that all these checks, whatever they call directly or indirectly leads to FBI. Coz, when i called they said it's Name and DOB Check, and then someone else said security check, the next time when i called. Since FBI is now doing backlog reduction work, not sure when your turn will come. Goodluck!
