Is name check controlled by Finger prints

I was trying to find out the status of my name check result after the finger prints. My FP was done in Texas (residence) for NSC (job). My 485 website status lists that the FP results were received by NSC from FBI. However have they received only the finger prints or have they also received the name check results too?
The paralegal, handling my case, says that the name check is done through the fingerprints (I think they she means to say that it is done thru the finger print process). The name check maybe initiated by the finger printing process, but is it completed at the same time and does the status FO received mean that the name check process has also been completed?
 
You can FAX/call FBI to get your name check result. It is a different number than Finger print enquiry.

The phone number is (202) 324-2399. You can find the FAX number in some thread too.

This wasn't a stupid question. Many people don't know how this work. :confused:

In my case, my name check was completed shortly after my first FP (Dec 02). Hope this will give you some clue.

Below is FBI's name check contact number
202-324-2399 (Name Check)
202-324-3367 (Name Check-Fax)

HI ,

I am in the same date as your are ,but I have not yet recived 2nd FP or RFE.
My online status does not change from the day one.
so what is name check.?. is that a seperate process?. how do you know that they did or did not do a name check on you?.what can we do if my case status has not changed and want to check if FP and name check is done?.
Please can you help :confused:
