Hello,
I recently obtained an L1a visa for work in the USA after being sponsored by my company. ( My family received L2 visas)
Unfortunately there was a last minute problem and the job was no longer available.
Is there any way we can use our visas to get into the US and buy a house, start work etc, for a different company if needs be.
Thanks for your time.

No. If the job no longer exists, then the L1A and the dependant L2s no longer exist. If you try to enter on L1A, the border guard will ask you (they always do with this type of visa) if you still work for the sponsering company. If you tell the true, you will be denied entry. Howver, you can enter on a B-1 visa (vistor).

Gunt is correct

You can enter on B visa. This is a non immigrant visa

If when you are in the uSA you see a business you wish to invest in you can apply to change status to E visa

Please be aware that the children of E visa holders, have to find a way of remaining in the USA once they reach 21 years of age
