Hello everybody,
I attended a community college for Spring 2010-2011. After that, I had to go back home because of some issues I needed to deal with. So I left the U.S. on August 2010. I thought I would need only 3-4 months to deal with my issues back home. However, I needed to say for a little longer. So I stayed for almost a year now. During my stay here, I registered for Fall 2011-2012 and I'm required to transfer my SEVIS to my new school before the date of 19th of August, 2011. So I sent an email to my previous international advisor at the community college to ask here about the steps I need to go through to transfer my SEVIS. She informed me that she couldn't find my SEVIS record at the college and told me that if I haven't attended the college since August 2010, then my SEVIS would have been cancelled. She asked for my ID number though to make sure and I already did but haven't received a reply. My question is, is my SEVIS really cancelled? If it is, what should I do? Especially that I need to transfer, as I mentioned, my SEVIS by the 19th of August. I'm really worried right now because the Fall semester will begin on the 27th of August which is very close.
