Is my case number (2011AS0003XXXX) to far down the line? Also about Evidence of Financial Support

Hi,

I am a winner of DV2011 and awaiting for my interview at American Embassy in mid-July. I notice that other DV2011 winners have already got their Green Card and are in the States, does that mean my chance of getting a Green Card with a case number of is very slim?

Also, there is also requirement of evidence of financial support and I am afraid I don't exactly know what information I would need to provide - bank statement, letter of employment, affidavit of support (can it be from my relatives who are not resided in US)?

I will be very grateful if you can answer some of my questions. Thank you.

the more documents you provide the higher chances are that you won't have any trouble. do anything possible. get the affidavit of support if you can, a recent bank statement that reflects substantial funds available to you

affidavit of support cannot be from a non us citizen/resident - they have to show USA tax returns on it.

letter of employment may not be considered as a proof of financial support. the issue here is to proof that you, upon entering the USA as an immigrant (at that time you most likely will give up your employment) will not likely become a public charge.

thanks cosom.kramer101. do you know if they have any requirement on how much money (at least) you have to have in your account? Getting an Affidavit of Support in US will be slight difficult for me, although I understand the logic behind.

as far as i know there is no minimum requirement for the amount that has to be shown on your bank statement in order for the consular officer not to have a reason to deny the case because of that. it has to be reasonable in terms of common sense. it also may depend on what your profession / experience is. the more demanded it is the less likely they will scrutinize your banking statements etc.
but the bulk park is perhaps 10-15 K for an individual and perhaps 20-30 K for a family of 3. if they see that , the should have very little or no reason to deny the case because of a lack of financial support.

Thanks, I should work around the 10-15k budget then. :D
