Is it true that INS no longer stamp passport on the day of interview?

Most local centers seem to have stopped stamping on the same day. However, I saw a post on I-485 forum where someone recently got same day stamping in Boston. So there are mixed signals. Some centers still stamp, while majority of others have probably stopped stamping on the same day.
