In our receipt that we get from the INS for I-140 it states:

Your I140 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER was received on October 21, 2004. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 150 and 180 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

So the 150-180 days is just a standard time frame that is totally outdated?

This is just a standard message and has no meaning at all. I had a same status 2 weeks back but the case got approved within 2 months. See my thread "I -140 Non concurrent Approved within 2 months" for details

smmakani, so what is your status now? Can you change jobs? I know that with 485, if you have 140 approved and 485 pending for more than 6 months, you can change jobs. How does it work for consular processing? What are the implications of retrogression to consular processing. I remember reading that you cannot get an appointment until dates become current. Is this true?

I cannot change the job till I'll get the GC. There is nothing like EAD in case of CP. I have to wait till my priority date becomes current.
