Hi all,
I would like to get comments and suggestions from you guys, any help would be appreciated. Let me tell you the history of my case, I will make it short.
I am on a H1B visa valid up to June 2006, working as a System analyst, have BS computer sciences and 5 years of experience. Company A hired me in 2001 and they applied my labor during that time, but the only catch was that I had to pay the charges to the lawyer which was around USD 1500 (initial fee for ads and lawyer fee). I started waiting for my Labor as I was told that the labor approval in NYC takes 3-4 years.
In 2002, I was offered another job from Company B. Since, I had good relations with Company A, they agreed to keep my labor process going and will notify me of any thing related to my LC.
Now, couple of months back Company B (new job) agreed to do my GC and started gathering the papers. Just to let you know about my new company, its NYC one of the top consulting company and I work for one of their clients. Apparently, Company B has their own lawyer, who does cases for their employees and which is also well known law firm in NYC. Plus, I didn’t have to pay for it.
PROBLEM
*In June 2005 the Company B Lawyer got my papers and told me that it’s going to be a perm process and will take up to 2 months for ads.
* In August 2005 he told me that I still have to wait 60 days after the ads are completed and told me in Oct 2005 will apply perm.
* Now couple of days back he told me that they have to send something like FACT SHEET to the labor department, which is necessary in the perm process and will take 2 months and my perm will be applied in Jan 2006.
(1) Am I being made fooled here? Or is this the right process?
(2) I called Company A lawyer for my old LC, who had charge me 1500 already, he told me to change it to perm, I have no idea what to do. He looks like a rip off to me and it’s been 4 years no paper, no nothing.
What should I do? Should I pursue my old LC or new? These lawyers are liars and keep you running after them, I don’t know if it is only in NYC but I had experience with two of them and both are making me beg for any kind of information even if I have to ask a simple question.
Thanx in advance.
A buddy in trouble like you.
