Is it taking too long time for the decision after the interview is a good or bad indication?

Hello,

We did our interview on Jan 2013 and waiting for the decision. The AO told us that we will get our decision within 4-5 weeks, but nothing yet! So, is that long time for a decision is a good or bad indicator?

Thanks!

PS: Asylum office of Chicago, IL

It doesn't indicate anything.
I have seen people getting rejected/approved in 2 weeks and same in 5-6 months.

But, as I read here and from people I know, apparently the rejection comes fast... On the other hand, the approved ones take time due to security clearance and other related stuff...

Is it true that I can send an official inquiry about my case to the USCIS Asylum office? Especially if the decision is taking too long (over 2 months)

well, our interview was on 7 feb... still waiting as well even that AO said that decision will be done in 2 weeks.
Contact your attorney to get info if possible.
we called to the office by our selves where the interview was held actually 3 weeks ago. They said to wait for 2-3 weeks more and if there is no answer yet to contact them again.
Notice: we are still in valid status. And the officer who answered the phone said that our case now is studying by others...
be patient. we understand u very well, believe me.... because from this decision our lives do depend mostly...
