I reatined an attorney to do the NIW based 140 petition. Although the case was approved, I am not satisfied with their service at all. Can I stop the service with them and submit the 485 petition by myself? What I should so? Do I need to inform the attorney or INS? Anyone has experience with 485 self-petition? Is it complicated? Thanks a lot.

that will be better.

Yes, I have realised as I have done evrything myself (paid lot lot money to Lawyer ,but they are useless). They have a clause no refund policy and that gives them a good way to escape.Anyway u bet ,you will enjoy doing your self. I know 2 guys who did themselves. You may pay 200-300 to a lawyer to check that form filled correctly.

Withdrawl of Attorney

Hi Huxf,

Make sure you let the Service Center know in writing that you are withdrawing/terminating the attorney (Revoking G-28) and follow that up by calling the service center otherwise they will send everything to your attorney's address, talking from personal experiences. Regards.

thanks to taslim and victim of INS.

Taslim, I haven't file 485 yet. The only G28 the INS have is the one filed with my I140. Does that matter? I mean is the G28 for I140 goint to "carry over" to the 485 petition? Thanks a lot.

Fire your attorney.

I-485 is a new application all together. If u don't submit a G-28 with it, then the INS will not send any notices to your attorney. Many attorneys are useless. However, sometimes when the clients change their home address, the INS always screws up with the new address and some clients have gotten their notices (Finger printing, interview etc.) thru their attorneys.

Huxf:
I filed both I-140 (extra ordinary abilty group, TX zone) and I-485 (Nebraska zone) by my self. I received my final 485 approval last month and waiting for biometrics notification.
Our I-140 was an independent category where limitaion of employer is not imposed, neither we need labor certification.
