Is it OK to leave US next day after mailing N-400

I and my family members will be eligible for N-400 filing after April 18. ( LPR since 7/17/07) Since my wife is going out of US on May-2, (for a month or so) I plan to submit N-400 by regular USPS mail on May-1 ( so that finger print come put after she comes back) Our location will be ATL. Does that seems OK or the form should reach USCIS before she leaves? ( In that case how early I need to file to get there before May 1)

Also do we need to fill evrything in Capital letters in N-400?
 
There is no requirement to be in the US when the N-400 is filed. She can leave the day after, or you can send it when she's already outside the US.
