Is it OK to apply for Candian PR in I-485 stage ?

Dear Friends,
Since I-485 processing is taking forever, I am thinking of
applying for Candian permanent residence as a backup.
Is it legal to do this, since I am already on EAD/AP ? Can
BCIS have problem with this ?
Please help.
 
NSC does not care if you apply for permanent residency in any other country of the world (it's perfectly legal as far as I know). I did the same thing, applied for canadian pr as a backup while I was on EAD. Now that I got the 485 approval, I will be cancelling it soon. Remind you though, the initial application fee is non refundaable.
