Is it alright to change careers before citizenship?

I am an Industrial Engineer and got my GC 2 years ago under EB-3 category. I am planning to completely change careers and maybe end up in sales.

Will this be a problem when applying for Citizenship?
Do I have to continue to be employed in the same field (Engineering) as my GC was approved for?

Thanks;

The change you describe will have NO impact whatsoever in your naturalization eligibility, and at this point you do not need to be employed in the field your GC was approved for. Go for it.

There have been numerous discussions on what the optimal amount of time is to stay with an employer who sponspors one's GC. Most everybody seems to agree that a 6 month-1 yr period is good enough. So, IMHO, in your case it should not be an issue, if you should decide to leave your GC-sponsor employer for another job/career elsewhere.
