Hi friends,
I hope everyone is doing fine and doing well. Here are the two questions:-

Q2) Is it compulsory for a dv lottery winner to have a sponsor in US? If the lottery winner can provide enough bank balance in his/her country, is it still necessary for her/him to also submit an affidavit of support from someone in US?

Q3) Is it necessary for a sponsor to be a relative, can a friend in US sponsor me????

Q3) Since Diversity Visa is presented as a lottery program, then why do they demand so many things from the lottery winners. I mean lottery is a lottery, just a golden oppurnity for the lottery winner, the lottery winner should not be asked for so many things. e.g lots of money/bank balance and assets etc.

Some Embassies does not require either Bank Balance or US sponsor and some of them demand to have one of them and they prefer US sponsor more than than Bank Balance report.
So it all depends on your U.S embassy in your country the one that you will do the interview at it.

I did my interview in 12-Jun-2012 and they accept my affidavit of support. It was sponsored by my friend.

That is true it should be like this :), but you know in real life most of the time things end up different from we were expecting ....

Anyway they ask for it just to make sure that you will not be a public charge when you live there.

Thanks,
