Is having a passport a must?

I have a GC interview on September 13th. I am currently applying for a Czech visa because I have to go there on business. Obviously, I need to mail my passport to The Czech Embassy to get the visa. The embassy's web site says that visa processing may take up to one month. So there's a slight chance that I may not get my passport back in time for my interview.

My question is: is it a requirement to bring your passport to the interview, or will my driver's license suffice?

Thank you.

Any Govt. Issued photo ID ( Passport, Driverliscense, EAD Card)will Suffice for Identification Your drivers Liscense should reflect the name you filed on the USCIS forms.

One important note: You may need to show your last entry stamps or Visas from your passport at the interview.
I reccomend you color Copy your bio page of your passport and make a copy of the most recent I-94, entry stamps & Visas.

Chances are you will be asked for your passport for verification purpose and also for the purpose of stamping if you are approved.
