Is H1 extension "required" beyond 6 year if on EAD/AP/AC21

Here are the case details

EB3(Inida)-PD - June 2000
485 pending since more than 180 days
I-140 approved
H1 (6 Years) expires in March 2000

Is it possible to just renew EAD/AP while waiting for 485 (because of retrogression )?

Also, is it safe to exercise AC21 while H1 is about to expire in few months? and then just renew EAD/AP?

The most common option of using AC21 requires the use of EAD, and depending on whom you ask using EAD means your H1 is no longer valid. So you can no longer extend H1.

Yes, you need to renew EAD/AP while waiting for 485 (you may not work if you are using EAD for workauthorization, and your EAD expires). So you need to be sure to have an unexpired EAD at all times

Exercising AC21 does not depend on H1 period. Make sure your new employment is similar to current job description on your LC.
