Is German transit visa needed for this case?

I just got my i485 approved and my wife has not got her FP notice yet. She is planning to travel to India through Frankfurt. She has a valid H4 visa (atleast stamping) for 2 more years and a valid AP also.

I know her H4 status is gone because of my LPR approval, but does she need a Transit visa for Germany. (i.e.) can she use her H4 visa to show to airline & any german authroties and once inside US @ POE use her AP to get in?

I think any german airline or german authority will not know whether her H4 visa is valid, but i heard that they send Passenger manifest on the way back to US in Frankfurt.

I was in similar situation..and took transit visa for my wife. Basically her
H4 is not valid and so she needs to use AP (hence transit visa for germany
is needed).

It is a different thing that nobody in germany may realize her H4 is no longer valid..But why take a chance ?
