Is expiry time of I-94 for B2 now only 3 months?

Hi.

How long are the I-94's issued for B2 visitors? My in-laws got their visa for 1 year at the Delhi Consulate, and we are looking for tickets now. (This being school season, tickets look as tough as getting a google stock.)

Anyways, I heard from a friend that the I-94's these days are issued only for 3 months. And no extensions are generally available after this period. How true is this information.

A short search in this forum did not yield anything.

It totally depends on the Point of Entry Officer. He can grant I-94 for upto 6 months (most do) but can limit it to as less as 1 month. Unfortunately, there is no way to know before hand till they arrive at the PoE.

Ask them to have a good reason ready at PoE as to why they should stay for 6 months.
