Is EAD required to maintain legal status if visa expired?

Hi Folks,

Is an unemployed person in legal status if he/she has applied for I-485 but does not have a valid visa or EAD and does not plan to work? Basically, is an EAD required to maintain legal status after filing I-485?

I think you can stay till the result of I-485 is told to you.

I think you can stay till the result of I-485 is told to you.
However if you want to work you got to have a valid VISA or EAD thereafter.
