I got my AP but still have yet to recive the EAD . My H1 is about to expire
I will be travelling shortly outside USA , so the question is do i need both EAD and AP for travel or do we just need AP for travel(say i travel after my h1 expires) , Kindly advice

Thanks

Of course you don't EAD for travel .... if you look at the EAD card, it says very clearly "Not valid for re-entry into the US"

Since you have your AOS (485) pending, you are in legal status irrespective of whether your H1 is valid or not. You should be able to travel and re-enter freely on a valid AP.
Having an employer is NOT required at all when you enter on AP.

Of course, you can't continue working with your employer after the H1 expires till you get the actual EAD card in hand and complete a new I-9.

In short - travel and EAD is not related.
