Is EAD needed for working after the 485 approval?

I had applied for EAD in Sept and on Nov 1, my 485 was approved. I have not bothered about the EAD and AP after the approval. However, just out of curiosity, I would like to know as to if the EAD is needed for anything after the 485 approval?

NO, too bad they don't refund what you payed EAD/AP if your 485 is already approved .
