Is continious presence in US mandatory during the I-485 stage?

Hi,
 I am in a peculier situation. Applied for I-485 in July-2001 (ND 21-Sep-2001). Now my company wants to start an off-shore operation in India and wants to draft me for it. The deal is that when-ever my presence is needed in USA for the GC processing, I can come here. Can anyone tell if such an arrangement will work out and GC continue un-impeded? Any related info would be highly appreciated.

Shouldn\'t be a problem

Why don\'t you ask your company lawyer or call VSC. Why rely on this board which may give you the right answer - but you\'d never know. For such critical issues contact your lawyer - or contact A lawyer.
