Hi,
I have a house in Texas and am currently facing the prospect of my project getting outsourced to India, so I have to look for another job in 1 months time. With the way the market is behaving, its quite likely that I will get the next job in another state other than Texas. The fact is that I have a house in Houston, Texas and since I have been moving around within Texas a lot, I have changed my address several times and each time I have had a lot of problems in getting my address changed because everytime I ask for an address change they make my address blank and I have had to contact the Congressman to get the address changed properly. To that end, I am very apprehensive when it comes to changing my address. Also, Im very scared what with the files moving around to other Centers and so on. I want to stay in the jurisdiction of the Texas Service Center and dont want to go elsewhere. So, tell me since I already have a house in Texas and suppose I get a project in another state, do I need to send in an AR11 since my permanent house is in Texas? Also, will my sending in an AR11 cause them to change my address to the apartment address in the East Coast or whereever I will be stationed. If so, will my file get moved to Vermont or wherever?
Please help.

Until you are sure and have completely moved then, sure file AR11. If you have a house and are not going to sell and are going to be in and out then do not file AR11.

Nowadays, people work anywhere in US but travel back and forth on week ends or once in fortnight.

This is my opinion, please take decision at your own risk.

So again, what is AR11 for?

Thanks longGC,
Yeah, its tough... I want to avoid having my case transferred. And am scared that filing AR11 might cause a case transfer out of Texas and might cause my file to get lost or some other mishap like that or some other reason for processing delays.
Tell me, is AR11 reqd only for permanent address changes or is it required even if you have a house in 1 place but are working elsewhere?
Please reply back.

Many ppl do face problem when they change address.

the 'permanent appartment/house' you mentioned is your current home?. if you don't have have any issue to get your mails at your current address and you are trying to avoid any isssu. you just want to move and work in another state... that would be fine too. but not really good practice about address. all I mean you can do it in this way with no problem. if RFE issued and you are asked to apear in intervew or if they notice they can ask about that..

if ur concern is about that they will move/transfer ur file... that is concernable issue. ofcourse some risks are involved. but if u are thinking that your file is going to be opend in short time then u can go with ur first option ....keep same address (if no issue getting mail) and if RFE issued u can reply it... but remmebr still have very little chance for RFE/interview if ur company is another state that does not fall in their juridiction ...... and it can be no isssue..... if they look to ur address... because comapny may have many branches.... and ur address is fine.....

take ur time to think about it and don't rush. best thing if u have coperative attorney that would be fine. talk to him.

Good Luck
