my aunt had been petitioned for under an i-140 taking care of an invalid elderly woman back in '89. the woman passed away in '94 but upon review of some of her paperwork we found a paper of approval dated at '92; two years before her patient's expiration. up until now she did not even give the paper a second glance. is this petition still valid? can processing continue off of this in the light of its approval before her patient's death? on the back of the paper it mentioned she would be called or written to however i'm pretty sure that any and all further procedure work was sent to her lawyer of that time; of whom she has not contacted all these years.
it would be incredibly helpful in any way if anyone could give an assured answer as to the validity of this petition and help as to what steps she could take to getting this back on track.
also, she has a now 19 yr old daughter who is currently in college and is an exceptionally talented artist. i had read somewhere that there were self-sponsership means for ppl of certain skills. could this be a way of status adjustment for her? what steps would she have to take and what further qualifications would she need. (is there a link i could go to concerning this?) both right now have been sponsered by my mom (aunt's sister) but even i know the excruciating length of time an i-130 at this family level can take. i would much appreciate any helpful information given that i could pass on to my family.
Thank you for your help. God bless you.
