Is Ap Renewal Required?

Hi everyone,

I have my AP expiring on 11/07/03, do I need to renew it like 4 months ahead just like we do for EAD or it works in a different manner. Moreover, I'm planning to travel to Canada before this AP expiration date, does that affect anything?

AP is not needed unless you have to go out of the country while you are working on EAD. In TSC, AP also takes 3-4 months to get approved. So if you have to go out of the country after your current AP expiration date, you need to get a new AP ( before going out of the country.)

You can go to Canada in AP before it expiration date. Remember to reenter US before the expiration date.

I had an AP that expired on March 31, 03 and I had to apply for a new one. They do not consider the new one as part of the old one. In other words you have to apply for a complete new one.
It takes between 5 to 6 months.
In my case I started the process long time ago. It was received on Feb 19, 03 and so far nothing has happend.
I was told to wait between 150 to 180 days
