Dallas stamping

Hello -

I went to the office in Dallas Tx on Friday at 7:30AM. The line outside the office was not very long, and by about 9:30 I was inside the building. The wait time was 40 minutes.

Documents presented for stamping: Approval Notice( I took the copy since my lawyer has the original), Passport and I-94. The INS representative has asked me to sign some form and place one fingerprint on the form. Also, she asked to put names of my parents on the same form. I told her to make sure all documents are sent to the Vermont service center.

I left the office by about 11AM with a small stamp in my passport. The officer told me the card will come in the mail in about 6-8 months. This is a standard answer, but I believe it should take less time. I did not surrender any other documents, so AP and EAD are still with me.

My approval was on March 25th an I went for stamping on April 5th.

By the way, the Approval Notice has the address of the office where you need to go for stamping. There is no need for appoinment.

Photos

Sorry I totally forgot about photos in my original reply. I took two (2) photos and put my A number and Name on the back with pen (they ask for a pencil sgnature).

In the Dallas INS office, you can also take 4 photos for 10$ with Palaroid. Cash only. These are authorized and fully compliant pictures and I would recommend taking pictures at INS than anywhere else.

I actually went to a small photo shop and took a profile photo (2) for $10.

P.S. The process was painless. However, there were several folks in the line who have done stamping 3 times because Dallas INS kept sending their paperwork to the Texas Processing Center instead of Vermont. So make sure you male this point to the officer.
