I am looking for some one to share information who applied in the MSC to adjust his/her status through Life Act?

Hello Loton,

I have applied for Life Legalization(LULAC) at the missouri service center in October 2001. I did my finger prints back in November of 2001 and I have not heard anything since then from the missouri service center. I renewed my EAD from the Vermont service center in July. I sent in application for EAD to the missori service center in May and I am still waiting for a response from them. When I call the missouri service center for my 485 application, the recording states that the xxx receipt number not found. The EAD application still states that it was received on xxx and it will take xxxx days to process. It has been almost 120 days since I filed my EAD application. Please do share your experience. If there are any other LULAC/CSS members, please post your experience as well.

I have applied my I-765 and as well as I-485 this Feb. 2nd 2002.
MSC sent the Finger Print notice for both application in my lawer address on April 17. June 10th I have received my EAD from MSC.
July 10th they transfered my I-485 application in our local INS office NY, NY for further processing.
I do not know how long it takes to process Lulac case in NY. I still do not know any one got any I-485 approval through Lulac.
I am very frasted about it. So many years in this country, still in the same boat.
Did you apply your I-765 and I-485 together? Let me know more about your status.
Thanks and good luck.

Hello Loton,

No, I did not apply for my 485 and 765 together. At the time I was applying for my 485, I had received my new work authorization from the vermont service center good thru end of July 2002 so I did not apply for work authorization at that time. According to my lawyer, he sent in our 485 in Mid August but we did not receive the notice from MSC until October. To my suprise yesterday, I check the AVM at MSC and it had updated with the following message "On September 4th, We received your fingerprint fee and processing has resumed". I don't know what this message means but I am glad that it has changed from receipt number not found. I checked with FBI several weeks backs regarding my fingerprints and they indicated that the fingerprints results were forwarded to INS on November 8, 2001. So, it is hard to figure out what this message means because the INS had the results since November of last year. I don't know if my file has been transfered to local INS or not. So far my lawyer has not received any transfer notice from INS. According to the regulation, the interview at the local INS is suppose to check to see if you meet citizenship test. I have submitted my highschool diploma as proof of my ability to meet the citizenship criteria as well as my school records from 6=12 grade. I am hoping that my case will not be transfer to local INS. (I guess this might be just wishful thinking). Did you submit any such documents? Does the AVM indicates that your file has been transfered or did you receive a notice? I know the feeling, it surely has been a long time. Over 12 years since we have applied to get our status adjusted but so far more and more delays. I would think that we would be the first in any Q.
Take Care

Yes, I hard the same massage as yours. It will take 6 to 8 weeks to processes your case now in the MSC; then, they will transfer your case to local INS office. You will see after 6 to 8 weeks your AVM massage will change. I do not know how long NY will take to process Lulac case. My case was transfered on July 10th. I did not get any notice yet.
Yes, I sent my B.S diploma which I earn from SUNY to MSC. All Lulac case will transfer to the Local INS office for final processing according to final rule.
I still do not know any one got their Green Card through Lulac or not. Do you know of any? If they ask for 20 years old i-94, I do not have that.
Let me know what else you have submitted with your i-485.
Please share your Interview with me if it happens before me. I will do the same. My guess, It will take another 4 to 6 months in NY to process our case.

It is really strange that it took them 9 months to process the fingerprints results It seems to be a never ending process. I hope that will not take much longer. I submitted the following documents along with my application

1. school records
2. Letters for school directors that I attented Junior and High school
3. Social security earning records 1981 - 2000
4. copy of ticket that I used to travel
5. High school and college diploma
6. Letter from employer with salary
7 3 months of pay stubs
8. awards that I receied in Junior High and High school
9. Letter from doctor that I visted from 1979 onward.
10. Advance parole documetns that I used in 1995/1996
11. copy Legalization questionaire and I-687(new and old)
12. copy of appointment letter from INS in 1991
13. Copy of my current work authorization
14. Medical exam report from INS approved doctor
15. copy of passport and birth record.
16. Police clearance from county

I think this is just about everything that I can remember. I hope that your interview will come soon.

Lorton,

I check the status of my case yesterday and it was transfered to the local office on the 18th of December 2002. II will be waiting for another 3-6 months for an interview. I know that my case is moving very slowly. When the local office send an appointment letter for the interview, does the message changes on the INS online status/AVM. Any luck on your case?

Bye

Do I need to do Special Reg.

I am a Bangladeshi Citizen. I got my EAD through LIFE and still valid. I am waiting for my I-485 interview notice last 6 months after my case transfered from Missouri Service Center to our local INS office NY, NY.
Does any one has any info about LIFE/LULAC? Did any LULAC case has approved yet? Do I have to go for special reg.; even though I had my photo and finger prints taken almost a year ago.
Any suggestions will be very helpful.
Thanks.

Lorton,

You might want to check this FAQ from INS, it will help you regarding special registration. http://www.ins.gov/graphics/lawenfor/specialreg/CALL_IN_ALL.pdf
If your last entry into U.S. was on a non-immigrant visa then you would need to register. If you entered the country on an advance parole before september , 2002 then you do not need to register. I hope this helps. As far as any LULAC cases being approved, I don't know of any being approved as of today. I am still waiting for my interview. I hope that it will come soon.

Good Luck.

Oscar:
I spoke with a nice lady officer from INS over the phone. She said the reasons the Lulac/CSS is not getting approved that a very few INS officer is assigned to handle these cases in the Local INS offices. She said to be patient.
My last entry in the US was without Inspection. Special Registration FAQ said if anyone last entry is without inspection then that person does not requires to do special registration. I will be calling INS to make sure. My laywer said I do not have to do it. I do not trust him. If you know anything let me know please.
Take care.

Hi guys, I know someone who had interview at least 6 months ago. So far no decision has been made!! It was very grueling interview and the person was asked for lot of evidence.

Hope this helps. good luck! thx

It would be very helpful for us if you would kind enough to provide us with your friend's interview details, such as which local INS office he had his interview as well as what kind of extra documents INS officer like to see.
It would be hard for me to collect further proofs. Few places I worked during my early period that no longer exist. What a LIMBO!

Lorton,

I just wanted to let you know that I received my interview notice today. It is scheduled for late March. I hope that your interview will come soon too. Also, you might be able to get some proof from your Social Security Earning records. You can get that from SSA office. They have complete history of all the wages. I got mine and it has info from 81 to present. I hope this helps. Take care.

It was NYC INS center. He was aksed for pay stub, tax record, lease, and scohhol record ( if he had available but was not required). Loton, I have sent you a PM yesterday. have you received that? if you need more info on this issue, you can send me a PM which is linked to my email. Don't forget to send your email also. I would like to take this discussion off this forum.

Oscar, good luck with your interview...

Oscar:
Thanks you for the good news. I hope your Interview will go fine.
Did you get the interview notice by your lawyer office? Did your online case status change after you received the interview notice?
My lawyer has changed his office location; and I am not geeting any mail from INS written to my lawyer office.
Thanks Oscar and good LUCK!

Lorton,

I received the interview notice in the mail from INS and the status of the case is still the same as it was before "Your case has been transfer .......". I also received an email from my lawyer yesterday telling me about the interview. My lawyer received another notice for finger printing that I did not receive. I have to go and get fingerprinted again because too much time has passed between my last ones.

rangdhonu - The items that your friend was asked (paystubs, tax etc) was it for recent years(ie. 1999 - 2001)?

Thanks
Oscar
