Is an old company H4 stamped visa without visa extension valid to travel back to US?

Me
-on H1b visa.
-switched to new firm B from old firm A while still in US.
-Status - have h1 visa stamped for old firm A on my passport. Date of maturity for visa is about a year from now. Plus have I797 extension approval for new firm B.

My wife
-on h4 visa.
-Status - have h4 stamped for my old firm A on passport. Date of maturity for visa is again about a year from now. HOWEVER, she does not have h4 extension approval to go with my new employment with firm B.

We want to travel to our home country and back without having to get visa stamping done at overseas US consulate. I have heard that since our stamped visa is still not expired (by date) we can travel back with all relevant documents including new firm B\'s I797 extension approval, recent paystubs or a letter from HR to prove I am still working with firm B. My question is since my wife does not have visa extension, is her travel back to US treated as the same case as mine? Also, if old firm B has shutdown, does that in anyway change the "validity" of the currently stamped visa?

Thanks in advance

You will have no problem.

We are in the same situation. We did a trip to third country and came back after new year(Jan. 2002). At the port we shew the passports with company A\'s visa (I left comapny A in March 2001), H1 on my passport and H4s on my wife and daughter\'s (Valid till 2003), the officer scaned passport and asked me to show new H1 approval notice with company B. That\'s it.
