Is Airport Transit Visa required - Through Paris???

Hi,

Is Airport Transit Visa required if we are going through Mumbai via Paris by Air India????. My spouse has Advance Parole.

You know my case status from my signature. I would appreciate your feedback. I am getting confusing answer from Air India and French consulate (both are contradictory). Is there anybody who travelled very recently with Advance Parole?

It is always better to go by what the French Consulate says. My family members always got transit visa from French Consulate during their transit through Paris CDG airport.

since last week I sent 4 emails and 1 Fax to the French consulate, New York to give me an appointment. We have some family urgency back home and there is no room for emergency slot at french consulate, NY. I called AirIndia, NY to know whether it is required or not. They said if I am going through Paris then no ATA is required. I do not mind taking ATA from french consulate. what happens if we do not take? what are the consequences?

Generally the airlines will refuse to let you board if you do not have transit visa. If Air India gives you a letter confirming that no transit visa is required, then you could use that letter just in case of any problems in boarding!
 
HI dallas,

I sent a FAX to the Air port airport manager asking about airport transit visa. He sent a reply fax saying that no Visa is required at CDG (Paris). Will it work at the airport to board the flight.

I have no idea since we always travelled with transit visa while travelling through Paris CDG. Please check with the airlines.
When we could not get transit visa in time, I have preferred to travel through HongKong, Singapore route where transit visa was not required.
When I have transited through Zurich, I always carried a copy of the e-mail from Swiss Consulate which said "Transit visa was not required for persons travelling on Advance Parole"

today got a phone call from Head of Visa Department, French consulate asking us to come to New York for Airport Transit Visa. So our worry is solved :) Next week we will visit New York and get the ATV stamped.

By the way I checked with airline (Air India) too. They said no visa required at CDG Paris. Any way lots of confusion is going on in this regard.
