Is a lawyer needed to file for parents green card?

Hello:
I am a Permanent Resident and recently filed for citizenship. My mother lives in India now and has decided to come live with us in US. She has been to US multiple times on tourist visa.

She will be coming to US in June after which I want to apply for her green card. I am hoping that I get my US citizenship by then.

My question is: Is it advisable to hire a lawyer to file her green card application? I understand that in addition to I-131, I will have to file for her Adjustment of Status and Advance Parole.

Thanks for your advice.

You do not need a lawyer if you're willing to read up on the process. Clearly from what you wrote, you do not know your left from your right with regard to the process. Either read up on it and/or pay a competent attorney to handle it for you. You can start here for the Adjustment of Status route:

and you can read these for Consular Processing route and the steps required:

Happy Reading!;););)

FYI it is illegal to come to the USA on a tourist visa knowing you're going to apply for permanent residency. It is known as preconceived intent and can open up a can of worms. The petition can get denied and she can get deported in that case.
