Got my tax return today, within a month.

Dream IRS handles our i485, instead of INS. You know the tax stuff is even more complicated than i485

Yes, we all would INS to be more efficient.
But do you really want a possiblity of your green card being audited after it is approved :)

LOL

Audited is fine, I didn't lie to get my green card. If the system worked better than it does, I am sure we'd have rules in place that would make more sense too.

INS sucks, anyday. It is the worst creation of satan that needs to go. I mean BCIS. Whatever.

completely off topic... silly man, your "important note" reads exactly the same as jaxen's (I am a Volunteer Moderator - one of you. I am not a lawyer. So act accordingly.).

was this a case of the same inspiration striking equal genius, one pinching it off the other, or that the administrators of this site came up with it (in which case it would be the most boring explanation).

just indulging in idle curiosity, trying to while away the time until GC approval.

Rajiv Khanna & party appointed some of us moderators. The idea is to keep the board abuse free and managed.

I personally feel that this board has been fine and dandy without a moderator. It is your board, as it is mine and everyone's else. I donot think it would be right for me and try and censure free speech here, so even if people post it a little spam ................................... hey life ain't perfect, but it's still good :).

But yea, if it gets to be too much, I am sure everyone here values this board, and won't let that happen in the first place. If they do, we'll fix 'em HAHA :)

IRS is more/better automated than INS.
Surprisingly, USA being world's super power & being into so much technology,
has its Immigration Center
not using centralized/automated systems.

If you change your address, it gets reflected for one application but not for another.

I think they should hire some H1B to work on their software systems.

it is just about political will. when economists and politicians saw hi-tech immigrants as catalysts, all laws were soft; 485s could be got over a safeway counter. now the same folks (well different folks since it is the Bush admin, Bush economists and Bush media in a Bushy circumstance) see hi-tech immigrants as burdensome as non-skilled workers and all laws got hard and grew thorns.

INS can be as hi-tech as any other org. INS employees are as competent as any other government employees (generally anyway). It is the same horse that was and will be. It is the jockey thats feeding and flogging the horse that makes the difference.

good luck all...

The key idea here is what brings the government money, IRS does, so for the IRS to get messed up as the INS is cause for serious problems, and intervention. INS on the other hand is like an old smelly goat, that no one wants but keeps because you never know when it is going to be useful! Hence the differences in processing times.
