IO took my I-94 and I have no copies

When I went in for the interview, the IO took the I-94 and took it out without a word and kept it. I don't have any copies. What could this mean? I realize that if I do get approved for GC, I-94 is irrelevant but what if I don't, and what if it takes a very long time?

He took it, that's a good sign. He wouldn't take it if you are not approved.
