Hi! I'm Nilay Shah..I'd an interview today in LA, and at the end of the interview, I was told since I only have 67 points and current criteria is 70 points, but Candian Immigration is in process of lowering down the points to 67 points, but it may take few months, so I'll have to wait till then, and when I asked so do I take the outcome of this interview in a positive form or in a negative form, he is said neither.....just wait till we notify you. Now at this point I'm not sure whats going on with my case...if someone can help me with my doubs, It will be highly appreciated...thanks...

You are lucky that the immigration officer did not reject your application straight away. You still have a chance of approval.

The Visa officer might be consulting the case with some other senior official to determine the outcome.

Why dont you request CAIPS notes to determine the exact situation of your case.

Have you read this from the official website of CIC?

The Minister's move to adjust the pass mark is a response to Canada's need for skilled workers. Effective immediately, all new skilled worker applicants and those currently in the system who have not yet received a selection decision, will be assessed with a pass mark of 67. (Since the implementation of IRPA and until today, the pass mark was 75.)

It says "Effective immediately". I don't understand why they are still using 70 upon you.

Also the title of the article is "
MINISTER ADJUSTS SKILLED WORKER PASSMARK AND PROPOSES CHANGES FOR ECONOMIC CLASS IMMIGRATION APPLICANTS AFFECTED BY IRPA TRANSITIONAL RULES"

Which used "adjusts" to passmarker and "proposes changes" to old applicants.

Please refer to following link for your information.

You should point out that 67 has been effective since Sept.18, the officer screwed up for sure.

I just found this :

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/notice-passmark.html

Revised Pass Mark for Skilled Worker Applicants

On September 18, 2003 Citizenship and Immigration Canada announced that the pass mark for those applying to immigrate to Canada as skilled workers (to all provinces except Quebec), has changed from 75 to 67. This change is effective immediately.

All new skilled worker applicants and those currently in the system who have not yet received a selection decision, will be assessed with a pass mark of 67.

The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada may amend the pass mark from time to time. Changes to the pass mark reflect the changes in the Canadian labour market and in the broader economy and society. The pass mark also reflects the changing demands on the part of prospective immigrants to Canada.
