Interview
Today my husband had an interview. As some of you probably know, he was not a principal applicant, he was granted derivative asylum. By suggestion of our lawyer( and some people on this forum) we decided to go all together, just in case. And this was a right decision. An immigration officer was very confused when he opened his file , NSC was processing our case as a marriage based. I had all documents prepared . He explained to us that this is mistake and hi can not do anything until they (NSC) will make decision on my case , but he asked my husband questions anyway. He was concern about :
- traveling
- did we have any public assistance ( I guess he meant a welfare ? )
- taxes for the last three years,
- communist party membership
- where we intended to deceive US government when we came here as a visitors in 1992 and applied for asylum.
He couldn't ask me any question since he didn't have my case.
And I almost forgot, he asked for the first I-94 when we entered US in 1992. I was issue anew one after my first interview in 1992, and don't ask me why I didn't get read of the original one. He took it and stamped to his (my husband's)file. I guess this is it. If some of you have any questions, feel free to ask , I will be happy to answer if it can help any of you.
Thank you, irina
