Interview Timeline for normal cases

I applied for my GC through my USC wife on 06/24/08. My question here is generally how long does it take to receive the interview after the biometrics appointment? I have my biometrics appointment on 07/22/08. And we are(myself and my wife) planning to travel internationally in October end (hopefully I'll receive my I-131 by then) How long does it take to get an interview letter and actual interview after biometrics for normal cases. At least the interview letter will help us booking for our travel dates. Anyone who applied from San Diego can send me their time line.

If you see and read thread from January Filers, you will see that most of us including me have been almost waiting for 6 months and there is no word of interview letters. Realistically speaking, I'd say the timeline is 6-9 months.

The 131 looks like it takes about 3 months from notice date (see redysaab's timeline).

The interview notice typically comes 2 months from notice date, with an interview 1 month later, if you have no RFE (see dan12345's timeline). RFE's delay the interview quite a bit and are pretty common, so you're risking things if you attempt to guess an interview date.
