Hi!

I am a 2009EU DV winner and my number will be current in May. I now live in Greece but when I first applied and won I was living in Cyprus, in which I am a citizen. When I filled the DS 230 I put on for my interview the consular in the US embassy in Cyprus, but today I called KCC to learn when and where my interview is gonna be, they told me it's gonna be in Athens!
Why did they change it? I put on my DS 230 that I wanted to be interviewed in Cyprus even though I live in Athens now. Can I change the place of the interview? Thanx!

If your interview has been scheduled, it is too late to ask KCC to change it. KCC won't help you on it. They will tell you to contact the U.S Embassies.

I have similar experience where KCC scheduled me an interview in the wrong country. Your option now is to go to Athens for the interview, or contact the U.S Embassy in Athens and request to have your file transferred to the U.S Embassy in Cyprus once it has arrived from KCC. Contact both embassies and explain your situation. Most likely they will transfer your file to the other Embassy. But, be warned, transfering file from one embassy to another will take some times. In my case it was 1 month.

I recommend follow KCC appointment and go to Athens for the interview. If it is impossible for you to go to Athens, then go with the file transfer.

Good Luck!

In my experience, interview in the Athens embassy was a breeze.

My only problem was that the doctor they sent me to was a completely unprofessional a-hole, who was 2 hours late to the appointment, yelled at me, conducted a very unprofessional exam (you can draw your conclusions), asked for money under the table and, the final straw, failed to send my documents to the embassy in time for my appointment.

I was planning to file an official report with the embassy about him, but I overheard my interviewer talk to him on the phone (due to my missing medicals), and that conversation sounded a little too personal, so I realized the whole thing was a lost cause...

well you can tell me who he was, so I will go to the other one...:) there are only 2 panel physicians in athens. :) who was the one you went? the one near alexandras avenue or the one in mesogeion avenue? (no names of course!)

thanx a lot!

p.s. anemeli i suppose you are greek aren't you?
