interview schedule but name check not performed

I have an appointment scheduled for the last week of december, I just received an email from the FBI saying that USCIS has never requested a name check for me.

Does that mean that I am going to the interview just for them to tell me that they will contact me again later on?

I thought that once they schedule the interview, they had pretty much everything ready.

Can anybody share any experiences with me?

Thanks

Here is the email:

I am responding to your email dated October 8th concerning your name check
status.

A review of the FBI's Name Check Program database concerning you does not
indicate that a request has ever been received from the U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services. Therefore, you may wish to recontact the USCIS' local
office for further processing of your case.

I am sorry we are unable to be of more assistance at this time.

Sincerely yours,

David M. Hardy, Chief,
National Name Check Program Section
Records Management Division

Hi kerberos,

When did u receive the mail ? I have sent one on 12th oct and havent received anything as yet.

I would suggest u attend interview and see what happens. I know in many cases they finish the interview and while checking thier list figure out that they havent requested name check . They then ask you to wait till they complete the same. U may go with a copy of the mail and let the officer know that they havent initiated the check as per the mail. I would suggest u keep quite till it comes to it and then present him with a copy of the email. Also there are good chances that they will approve and stamp . I guess u cant initiate it till your interview date.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Cheers

Its possible that you will go to the interview and they will not have your results for the name check. In this case, they will do everything except stamp your passport at the interview, since they will need the results of the name check. There is no telling how much longer you would need to wait after that. My lawyer warned me of this possibility when I was going to the interview.

The good news is that you already got a reply from the FBI. You can use this to your advantage

Bring the email from the FBI to the interview. When the officer tells you that they don't have your name check results, show him the the email from the FBI stating that a request was never made by USCIS, Its possible that his system shows that a request was made, and he's just waiting for response from the FBI. The FBI thinks that a request was never made, so if you don't show him the email from the FBI then he will be waiting forever.
