Greetings Everyone,

I just got a letter from the homeland security in the local ofc in Newark, NJ that I have my interview re: Adjustment of Status next month and they're requiring to bring my passport, I-94 and the letter they've sent me. Just to give you a lttle background, my husband is the primary petitioner here - my case is unusual bec my husband's GC was approved 2 yrs ago. Two months ago I went to Newark for biometric with an ASC code no. 2 did my index finger, took photo, and my signature. My ND Jan 20, 2002 , Had 5 EAD's, 2x fingerprints (all fingers) and later my I-485 docs were transfered in local ofc in Newark early this year (January 2005). So now, I have no idea what will the interviewing officer would ask me, my husband is working in the west coast, or Does he have to accompany me for an interview? what should I expect there? Re: I-94 docs...from what dates? was it from my frist entry here in the US? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

interview

Since you are not the primary, you may be asked to establish relationship with the primary. I suggest you take your husband and several recent proofs of continuing relationship e.g. joint bank account, credit card statements, house leases, etc. Marriage photos may help but since you are in the east coast and your husband in the west coast, recent proof of continuing relationship may be needed.

Interview

As Pras01 mentioned, take Marriage Certificate, Joint Filing of Taxes, Joint Bank Account, Make sure that your husband name be on the lease and don't mention about your husband working in west coast until asked upon. If at all the officer ask try answering in these lines " My husband is Consultant and he works 4 days a week from Monday through Thursday and the he returns back and this is our home base." There ends the questions. But Please do not tell yourself that he is currently working in West Coast and all. It might complicate things just a thought not necessarily though.

Take Marriage Photos and recent photos of you both. Take Wedding Invitation, If you have car or house with Joint Ownership take them. Any joint ownership of property will help.

If possible ask your husband to accompany you to the interview so that you can say that my husband is waiting outside. Nothing is more important for us than getting Green Card due to the serious limitations of what we can do, what we cannot do. So request your husband to come along with you.

One other thing take copies of the above mentioned documents( not photos though ;) :) ) since they might need it for their files.

I hope this could help you.

Good Luck with your interview.

Thanks

Rayudu

Other Information

Between forgot to answer your other questions:

1. Take all I-94's and if you are on H1B or F1 take I20's and I797(all of them). Make sure you have copy of them. POJ always mentions to have multiple copies of the documents we submit to CIS. I followed the same.

2. Take orginal 485 Approval Notice of your husband, I140 approval if available and other approval notices of EAD and AP.

3. Your educational copies and if you have Education Evaluation done as part of H1 please take that too.

Thanks
