interview letter question

Is there any way to know when the IL is coming? Those who are already through this stage, can you please say if there is a LUD/soft update that might be a clue that the IL is coming? I know that you will not get an online status change or email. Just wondering if there is a LUD.

Also, do most people get RFEs before AP/EAD approval or afterwards?

Thanks a lot for any answers.

From other postings on this forum, there is no LUD prior to receiving an interview letter.

From what I can understand, the National Benefits Center (MSC) adjudicates pretty much all applications around the same timeframe. The result of the adjudication is:
1) approval (pending background check) without interview. This usually happens for parent I-130s and results in a LUD update showing transfer to your regional service center
2) RFE for missing/additional evidence.
3) Movement to the local DO's interview queue

Outcomes 1 and 2 show LUD's, but outcome 3 doesn't. Once your in the interview queue, the DO has to find an open timeslot and won't send the letter until that happens. So you'll receive an interview letter later than the adjudication event described above (in DOs like Seattle this is MUCH later).

From what I saw on the USC threads, infopass agents can see if you're in the interview queue if you really want to know, but sometimes they don't bother.

Your best bet is to see the timelines of other people getting RFEs or transfers to regional service centers (eg: CSC), to see if the initial adjudication event occurred for you. Then look at other with the same DO to predict the timeline for interview letter receipt.

K1 -> I-485 -> I-751 -> N-400

Now filing I-130/I-485 for parent...
