Interview letter question

Interview date: 8/09/07

I received interview letter today and it's scheduled on 8/09/07.
I have following questions

1) At the top of I797C, it says " REQUEST FOR APPLICATION TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW. What this this INITIAL interview? I know that we have to go for interview but what is this INITIAL interview?

2)When I check my case online, it still says that they are working on it but it doesn't mention anything about interview. Do you think that though they have send me interview date but not updated the case status online?

3)Since I have already receievd the interview date, is it safe to assume that I dont have any RFEs?

1) I guess that is your interview notice. That was pretty fast...

2) It takes a while for cases to be updated online. So trust what you get in the mail, more than what you see online.

3) I would assume so, about 90% sure. But with USCIS you never know!

I am in exactly the same situation, except for the panic part. My letter also says "initial interview", and the timeline hasn't been updated online. I don't think you have any reason to worry.

1. Initial interview doesn't mean you will have a 2nd interview. If everything goes well, the initial interview will be your only interview.

2. Don't worry about the online tracking. The online info isn't always up-to-date.

3. I think so.

Kinda surprised that you received your notice MORE THAN TWO MONTHS before the interview
