Interview letter - out of the blue !!!

Hello to all,

I recently posted my frustration about my pending I-485 case (you can read about it here: http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=202853). Last Friday I received an email from USCIS stating "Our last written notice in this case was returned as undeliverable by the post office on February 3, 2006," they probably sent it to my old Florida address which I updated at least 3 times. Anyway, this Tuesday I got my interview letter !!! It was completely unexpected and I am still baffled by it. The interview is on March 20th at the Cherry Hill, NJ DO. It turns out that I was set to leave the country from the 17th to the 27 of March. Needless to say, I had to change my travel plans since there is NO WAY I am going to try to reschedule the interview. I have been "obsessed" the past couple of days trying to find information about interviews and this forum has been a great help. I still have a few concerns which I hope some of you can address:

1. I need to get a medical exam (I-693). I was never required to have one done when I initially filed but it says so on the interview letter. My question here is about vaccinations, what do they expect you to have? I have old vaccination records from my country, are these acceptable?

2. My wife and I have been married for almost 3 years now (our anniversary is on March 5th). If and when I get approved, will I be under conditional status? According to the USCIS website "Your permanent residence status will be conditional if it is based on a marriage that was less than two years old on the day you were given permanent residence." I have heard opposing arguments though.

3. I have been pretty bad about keeping records (shame on me). I have bank statements for just a few months, tax returns for the past 3 years, our current apartment lease, our current car/health/dental insurance, and a ton of photos. Basically I can only vouch for the past year or so as far as solid evidence is concerned. What kind of history do they expect?

4. As I mentioned above I had to reschedule my trip out of the country. What are the guidelines as far as travel is concerned after the interview? Can you still travel on your AP if you're approved and waiting on the plastic card? What options are there?

I hope some of you can offer some advice. I have to admit I am stressed as I have been trying to gather evidence and get ready for the interview, there's nothing else I have been thinking about.

Thank you in advance for all your responses.

Hi there !
Don't get nervous ! I have my interview in 2 weeks in Chicago and I am beginning to stress out, but then, when I think about it, I say to myself to be cool because my marriage is bona-fide and what I have to show is what I have ! You can't "create" other docs unless you call your different utility companies and ask them to write a letter stating how long you and your wife are there customers. I have also thrown away bills from 2001 and 2002 but found some medicals bills and Kidcare correspondence from these years.

1. I have shown my vaccination book (in French) at the medical exam and everything went ok.

2. If you're married 3 years, you should not have a conditional GC.

3. Do not forget to make copies of all these docs that you have and as I told you above, ask your utility companies to write a letter.

Those are my opinions. I am sure others will respond to your thread. Good luck to you !!

Ema.

- I am not sure if you can use your old vacc record but to get the medical exam, you have to go to the doctor that is appointed by USCIS. Click here http://uscis.gov/graphics/medical_exam.htm You'll find out the procedure including the link to the local doctors at your city

You'll get permanent GC

Get as much as documents you can, search this forum for the list, the more you bring the better you are.

Yes you still can, if you want to be sure ask them to stamp your passport if you get approved. Explain to them that you're going out of US very soon.

I can really only give my input on your first question.
To enroll in college I had to get few shots back and home and fill out a required form. This form had a list of all the shots that I have received and also the dates. I took a copy of this to the USCIS doctor and he only gave me the shots that were missing. Like a couple of reenforcements. Just check online for a USCIS aproved doctor, bring your vaccination record with you and you should be all set. Make sure you make an appt ASAP and look around. Some doctors try over-charging you and the waiting time varies a lot from city to city. I just googled searched it and got this address http://www.immigration.com/dr/physicians.html

oh and with your last question. I read in some posts that at the interview they sometimes take your AP and they can't stamp your passport till after the FBI check.

hope this helps!

I just had my check-up/vaccine about 2weeks ago and have called several doctors authorized my USCIS. They said that USCIS only requres 2 MMRs and 1 Tetanus. If you had these already, when you get to a doctor for your check-up just show your vaccine record to them so they won't give you any shots anymore.
