Interview letter from LA consulate

Hi Forum,

I got a letter from LA consulate today and I am required to attend the interview on March 16,2004. That was pretty fast.. within 2 months of file transfer to LA from Buffalo consulate.:)

But, they haven't mentioned anything about the medical. Do I have to wait till I clear the interview?
Apart from that they have asked me to bring all the documents (passport, police clearance, IELTS score,Education degrees, Certificates, Employment letter, Fund proof, Birth Certificate, Marriage certificate,immigration status, W2 forms etc..)

Most of them, I have already submitted at the time of filing my application.
I would appreciate if anybody can tell me, what should I expect in the interview?
AND MOST IMPORTANT!!
Should I take the medical test before attending the interview or not?

Interview: They will decide whether you add "value" to the Canadian economy...and will check authenticity of your documents .

Questions: about your education, experience, what you did, your language power etc..

Medical Test: They will send you forms and designated Dr.s' list after you successfully pass your interview..which actually is more like your introduction than interview..

You CAN'T take medical test before interview any way...as you don't have required forms from Canadian authorities...they will mail you those forms and doctors' list after you are done with your interview.

You SHOULD look for more information on www.cic.gc.ca

It has all PDF files and info about allmost everything....regarding immigration to Canada.

I have never heard, that we can't get the medicals done before the interview? My interview is not yet scheduled, I was required to get my medicals somewhere in oct or nov.

When they sent me medical forms, it was a complete set, otherwise the doc. would have told me.

If they send you medicals ..that means.....they don't need to take your interview..

They will ask for more medicals if required and if they need any other documents.

And finally your passport for the visa..

Had my interview on Jan19 2003 at LA

I had my interview in LA on Jan 19 2004. Me, wife and kids arrived there at 8am and the office opened around 8:45 we are asked to submit our papers with the interview letter and wait for our name ot be called out. It was an hour before my name was called, the interviwing officer aksed my wife to stay out with our 2 little boys, he will call her in if he needed any information. Anyway he started with educational documents, work experience, pay stubs, and current immigration status in the US.

And that's it. Gave me a letter to send in the landing fees.

I do have a couple of question though?

I applied for Vancouver can i land in another city???like toronto etc
After i apply for the PR card can i coem back to the US on my AP papers?

****You can enter from anwhere in the world to anywhere in Canada.

TimeFrame for an Interview in LA

Guru, I got a letter from LA Consulate today stating that an interview is required for us.
So my questions are

1) Why would they generally ask for an interview?
2) MOST IMPORTANT : Any ideas about how long I have to wait...

1) you can enter to any place in canada except quebec .

2) You have to be in canada to apply for the PR card as it needs PR card photos stamped by the photographer in canada and also needs to be notarized in canada . Yes! you could come to US after that and then wait to get a letter to pick up your PR card .

YOu do not need a PR card to enter canada from US if driving in your own car/rental car
 
* They will check your admissibility to Canada.
* Basically they want to check authencity of your documents(degrees and all that). They will discuss about your experience, current status in US, why you want to move to Canada, how much money you are taking to Canada etc...
* If you have degrees from countries other than US or other devloped nations; they do take interview sometime.
* It is not going to be any kind of technical interview. So don't freak out.
* Interviews normally take anywhere from 20-25 minutes to 1 hour.
* After interview; it might take few months before you are on your way to Canada.

But generally what is the timeframe after you get the initial letter stating that interview is required
Also, do they interview my spouse too
 
After interview, you will have to do your medicals. Dr. will send those medicals to Canadian authorities. They might ask for additional tests or other documents if required. If all goes well; they will ask for your passports for visa. You will have to enter within 1 year from the date of your medicals.

With that said; after interview it will be atleast 5-6 months; before you will be able to enter Canada.

They do not take spouse and dependents interview normally. But that doesn't mean they don't take their interview. You need to take them to your interview as they should have written in the letter abt your interview.

You sound to have gone thru too much, anybody with so much knowledge must have had a hard route.

Tell me one more thing

I got my medicals somewhere in March or April 2003. With that they said to wait for 7-10 months.

Soon after that I got another letter that my case is transferred to LA and an interview is required. My lawyer advised us to get the medicals done, as sometimes the interview gets waived too. So we got our medicals done.

Do you think they can waive the interview even after they have sent the letter to the candidate.

I learn many things hard way. This is not an exception in case of immegration to Canada also.

Well, if they said that your interview is required in L.A; then they will take your interview in L.A. There are almost negligible chances that they won't take your interview. They will tell you when to come.

Though you have done your medicals; its not advisable to do medicals until they tell you. What if you don't get your interview and visa within 1 year of your medicals?

Ur present address is Newyork in ur immigration application.
So u shd get ur interveiw done at Newyork rather Losangels .
Can u pls let us know the reason " why u are interviewd at Losangels , not at Newyork canada consulate"

Did ur present address is under LosANgels region (like states CA , Nevada etc..)
Can u pls let us know the reason " why u are interviewd at Losangels , not at other canada consulate"
