Hi everyone,

Just had my interview this morning, my priority date is March 9th, 2007, appointment at 7:50am.

Got there at 7:45am, couldn't find parking, when I finally parked, tried to get into the building, they told me to return my cell phone to the car, I finally made the waiting room at 8:00am.

Waited about 5mins, they called my name, the IO said "You're late, I called you about 10 mins ago and you weren't there." I apologized but mentioned that the parking system was a mess, plus, didn't expect to return to my car.

I took EVERYTHING that is posted in 'What documents to bring' post in this forum.

She started checking my file and asked me for original birth certificate, didn't have the original, but she accepted the copy.

She said "lets get the test out of the way so we can talk"... 5 questions, reading, and writing, (I'm fluent in English and knew all the questions).

Asked pretty much the entire form, updated information (from single to married, updated jobs, etc). Check my passports (I have two, Venezuelan and Portuguese), my GC, seletive service card. Asked me all the YES and NO questions, about arrests, etc etc etc...

She then printed a form and said "check your name and all information, this will be printed in your certificate, also, when make sure you petition your wife AS SOON as you get your certificate so you get that out of the way fast (my wife has no status)"

Printed a confirmation letter that says 'Congratulations'... and that was that... overall took about 15-20 mins.

Congrats first of all ...

Weird thing is though that she said you are late and that she called your Name 10 Min prior.

KC DO works this way. You go in there, drop your Interview Letter in a Box. Once in a while (aprox. every 2 min, lol) a IO opens the door and grabs the letter and only the ones that drop the letter in there will be called. Nobody else.

I guess its different in Miami, they have A LOT of IOs, I talked about it with my officer after the interview, they each take 15 cases (people), and they just go down the list. Every interview is expected to last about 30-40 mins. So 15 interviews times 30-40 mins, is 7.5 to 8.0 hours a day, a regular work schedule ;) ...

So she called me exactly at 7:50, and I wasn't there, she interviewed someone else that was already there, and then called me...

congratulations!

please keep us posted when you receive your oath letter. enjoy your freedom!!!! I have been told by USCIS that my interview at Miami DO will be held on 02/14/08. I still have another three months to go. :o

That was really fast and lucky, I see you have really clear and clean information and documents. Congratulations.

gnr5:

Congratulations. Can I ask how did you get your GC? Employment or some other category? If employment, did IO asked any questions regarding working with sponsoring employer? or any other specific Qs regarding employment?

Thanks very much!

Sun - Interviewer didn't ask about where I got my GC from. However I was one of the lucky ones to get the GC via Visa Lottery, this was eleven years ago. I was twelve back then, so didn't really ask, she did ask me how my parents came to the US (also visa lottery), so I told her "Visa lottery" she put a weird face and said, "Didn't your dad came on a business visa?" (which he didn't, he actually came as me, with the visa lottery). My response was "to be honest officer, I was just a kid when I came to the US, I'm pretty certain it was a visa lottery, if it is something else, don't ask me anymore becuase I am not aware, and when I was 12 years old I didn't really know what was going on".

With that she got the point that I really didn't even know how I got here.

mitilda - My oath letter was sent from Miami, and it wasn't one of those official paper that they usually send their noticies on. This is just a plain white paper. Notice date is November 23rd, just 3 working days after my interview. Mailing date is not posted on the envelop, however I got it on Tues, so I'm pretty sure it was Friday 23rd.

Miami Interview Experience

sorry for the double posting , I am a little sad and in need of an answer:(

:(My interview was scheduled for 2pm today. I arrived about thirty minutes before scheduled and was called in by a very nice officer around 2:20 pm. The interview went smoothly after taking the oath and the officer was very nice and corteous until she came to memberships part. I acknowledge I had been an involuntary member of the young communist league in the communist island of Cuba and she took my file to a supervisor. She later returned telling me my file would have to go to special supervisory review unit for this kind of case. She went ahead with the examination. Read a very simple sentence outloud, wrote down "My car does not work." and answered the next six questions correctly:
1-What colors are the stars in the US flag? White
2-How many senators are there? 100, two from each state
3-What group advices the President? The Cabinet
4-Who becomes president if the President dies? The Vice President, Dick Cheney
5-For how many years are House Representatives elected for? Two years
6-What are the branches of the US government? Legislative, Executive, Judiciary
Congrats, you passed the tests of English and US history and government, but marked item B on the M-652 Form which states a decision cannot yet be made about your application. The officer wished me a Happy Valentine's and told me I should get the notice in the mail (no time frame). I signed my pictures and the last page of the N-400 application as well as the examination records and have a nice day!:(
For any reason, I do not feel very happy! I was dreaming of getting the congratulations your case has been recommended for approval! :(
The pain goes on until I get an oath letter! any insight on this???? thanks.
