Hi,
I had my interview today in San Jose. I could not be more lucky that my case is transferred to San Jose. They have probably the nicest and friendliest staff I have ever seen! Anyways my was a fairly complicated case. So here are details:

RD: OCT 2002
3 EADs
3 APs
2 FPs
I140 approved!

case tranferred: Nov 2004 from VSC
Interview Date: Jan 12 2005

I arrived there an hour early. Put in the little sheet. Got called after an hour.

1. I had a prior arrest. It was for felony aggravated assault. But there is no conviction. Case was No billed. I DID NOT mention it on my 485. That is probably why my case was transferred and I was called for an interview.
I highly suggest that you DO NOT lie on your 485 though. I unknowingly did.

2. I also recently had some trouble at port of entry when I was travelling on AP. They found out about my arrest and grilled me pretty bad. Was not a problem though.

3. I also had an AC21 case.

4. After I got my case transferred, I got all the court documents ready to make sure that they know my case was dismissed without prejudice and no convictions. I did not had any papers like that!

5. Interview could not have gone any smoother.

When I arrived in the officer's room, he sworn me in. He was probably the nicest guy I have ever met in my life.

He did not even go thru anything! he just flipped some papers.

He then proceeded to cross out a few things, verified my current address, updated my last date of enrty.

After that he apologized for asking me the questions he was going to ask, because they may sound rude :-) (I found that really really nice).

He then asked me about my arrest. I told him that it was a mistake on my part to not answer that question correctly and I was at fault. I told him that case was dismissed without prejuidice. He said it is NOT a problem at all. And he completely understood.

He did not go into any details about the case. Then he took my fingerprints and other stuff.

He then said sir you are approved for your green card! Welcome to United States as permanent resident.

That is all the questions he asked me (about 4 questions). he also asked me about standard questions like communism and crap, to which answer was NO.

Total time inside was less than 15 minutes. He already had the intention of approving me I guess. Most of the time he asked me stuff like how am I doing, girls (haha I know), movies etc.

But my priority date is Jan 19. Currently visa numbers are available only until Jan 1 2002. He even tried to get a visa number right in front of me for another category (EB2) because he wanted to stamp my passport. But they were all gone! He then mentioned your case is approved but I have to wait for visa number to be available which should be in february! He will then send me an approval letter.

He apologized like a million times that he could not stamp my passport today but promised that I will have my approval letter AS SOON AS visa number becomes available (in first week of february).

Well thats my 411. I tried to be as detailed as possible. Please let me know if I missed anything. feel free to ask any questions you may have!

One thing for sure..I think all you guys waiting, pray to god that your case is transferred to San Jose. Guys here are so unbelivably nice, it makes you wonder or wanna pinch yourself sometimes. They actually act like they are here to serve you and no matter how bad your case is, they WILL approve it!

Good luck and god bless!

Congrats. First of all you are approved so enjoy that w/o worrying about VISA # etc for few days :) I have said this earlier as well -- if you have not done anything wrong you will get approved, no matter what

Thank you Guys! Yes it was kind of a rocky journey with a lot of bumps along the way!

But now I only have to wait for my approval letter to arrive and then I am going on vacation :-)

I highly suggest that somehow you guys get your cases transferred to San Jose local office if there is way! These guys are so freakin awesome. I have heard that from everyone, including the local attorneys! They actually want to give you GC!

On a second note. How long before I should switch my employers you think?
